Southern Opera is committed to presenting a world-class mainstream opera production once a year. Later in 2008 this will be Verdi’s IL TROVATORE which will enjoy a five-performance season in September/October in Christchurch before featuring in the Otago Festival of the Arts in Dunedin on 11th October.

In addition, the company will present one smaller “chamber” work each year. It will usually be a one-act work without a chorus, but featuring top quality artists and production values.

In early 2009 this will be Puccini's one act opera 'Gianni Schicchi' which will be performed in Christchurch and will tour to venues in the South Island.
